Earliest Heartbeat on U/S

Earliest Heartbeat on U/S

Postby gemanda » Thu Jan 22, 2009 9:07 am

Ok...preface this by saying it's NOT for me, so no one start wondering anything! :lol:

What is the earliest you've known a HB to be visible on an u/s? And what's the earliest they could get a HB count?

I was wondering when I saw you started this :lol:

I went in for an emergency u/s with the twins when I was ~8.5 weeks. I'm pretty sure that they saw the hb's at that point. I was back in again a week later for yet another u/s... spotting sucks! And again, I think that we saw hb's there as well.

I know that with Charlotte, we saw the HB at five weeks. We had gone in a week earlier and nada.

That wasn't major drama or anything. :lol:

And you cannot post like this, 'cause I almost shit my pants. :lol:

When we went to the ER with Janelle due to severe side pains they said they saw a heartbeat, but they weren't allowed to show us... I would guess it was around 5 weeks...by my ob's final dating with Janelle (you probably remember how absurd that was) I wasn't even pregnant yet... so yea...

With Caid, it was at 5w3d, we tried a week before that, when I thought I was 7w, and we saw nothing, came back a week later, and they saw it then, it was around 140.

With Travis and River we didn't even try before 8 weeksish with both...That whole disappearing twins thing with Janelle and Kincaid made me want to wait longer, so if they were twins, no one knows, which makes me happier.

I'm with Amber...you should've put that disclaimer on the subject line! :lol:

With Molly, I was around 5-6 weeks when we had the u/s to try and date the pregnancy, since my LMP had been 6 weeks prior, but it was only my 2nd period since Emily had been born and my cycles weren't even close to regular. Her hb was around 145 at that time.

:lol: Sorry for the freakout! Believe me, SO not happening!

I know someone who's saying that they saw the HB and got a count at 4w4d. That's just not making sense at all to me.

I don't really think that's possible. :shrug: I know the date on my first ultrasound with Chuck was 4w6d and there was no heartbeat and everyone assured me that was normal. It was closer to 5w5d before we saw anything.

LMP, Carol...conception date would be fairly easy to pinpoint.

That's what I was thinking, Amber. Very confusing.

I just copied this off some site....

When is the earliest you can see a heartbeat on ultrasound?

At about six weeks into pregnancy (four weeks from conception), you should be able to see your baby's heartbeat on ultrasound. The typical heart rate at this age is about 100 beats per minute. As your pregnancy progresses, your baby's average heartbeat will be between 120 and 160 beats per minute.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I thought she might possibly be counting the 4 weeks from conception instead of lmp and then it would make sense so I would say she is nuts. :heee:
I was told that a high HCG can make the heart start beating earlier...but I had extremely high HCG #'s with Kincaid, and like I said, it was like 5w3d that we saw a heart beat, and the week before that, we saw absolutely nothing.
